Care guide
Jade Plant
Crassula ovata
A symbol of good luck that lives for decades.

The Jade Plant is a long-lived succulent that can grow into a beautiful miniature tree with proper care. Known as the 'money plant' in many cultures, it's said to bring good luck and prosperity. It stores water in its thick leaves, making it very forgiving.
Care guide
Water
Every 2-3 weeks
Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry - usually every 2-3 weeks in summer, once a month in winter. It's a succulent: less is more. Water at the base, not on the leaves.
Light
Bright indirect to some direct
Loves bright light - ideally 4+ hours of bright indirect light per day. Some morning direct sunlight is fine and helps it grow compact and strong. Avoid harsh afternoon sun.
Humidity
Low · 20–40%
Prefers dry air. No misting needed. It's a succulent and stores its own moisture in its leaves.
Temperature
18 - 24°C
Keep in a warm spot. Avoid temperatures below 10°C and frost. Cooler winters (around 15°C at night) can actually encourage blooming.
Fertiliser
Monthly (Spring-Summer)
Feed with a diluted succulent fertiliser once a month in spring and summer. Do not fertilise in winter.
Soil
Cactus / succulent mix
Use a cactus or succulent potting mix with excellent drainage. A terracotta pot is ideal as it helps the soil dry faster.
Pro tips
- 1
Wrinkled or shrivelled leaves mean it needs water; soft, mushy leaves mean overwatering.
- 2
Prune leggy stems in spring to keep it bushy and compact.
- 3
Repot every 2-3 years in spring - jade plants prefer slightly snug pots.
- 4
The more light it gets, the more reddish the leaf tips become - a sign of a happy, healthy plant.
Important
- Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
- Mildly toxic to humans - wash hands after handling.
